Random Updates and Wilderness Areas
Things I’ve managed to accomplish and/or observe in the past couple of weeks:
- 200 square feet of garden is a damn lot to hand clear, I think I’m getting annexed by my co-gardeners
- I killed all my starts but the tomatoes, so all the red currant tomatoes you can eat and nothing else so far
- It’s supposed to be June but it’s alternately raining/blowing outside with gusto
- I can hear staged pirate battles taking place on the Willamette River from my house this week
- Managed to camp last weekend on an hour and a half notice and two gin and tonics of motivation
- Devoured three previously unread fantasy epics just to know how they end
- Had a couple of distinctly uncomfortable conversations with my co-habitator and congratulated myself on being clever once or twice too often
As a reward for sitting through the list, here’s some lovely post-adventure pictures of my second trip to the Opal Creek Wilderness this year. We arrived on Memorial Day weekend, got a kick ass camping spot for five bucks and managed to get everything in camp set up before it poured on us. I’d have preferred to forgo the rain, but it was a good time regardless.

This is what victory looks like when the campfire survives the downpour.

I had to hold onto her or she would have been off shredding sticks and underbrush.

Three Pools on the Opal Creek. Truly one of the most beautiful places I’ve been.

Wow, gorgeous! I love camping. We definitely don’t go enough!
